The year 2025 will see the expansion of Audi's electric car offering to the traditional E-class "business" - the A6 model. Until now, the choice was between SUVs or the sporty e-tron GT model. In February 2025, it was explained that, despite earlier announcements, the A6 name would not only apply to the fully electric model. The planned future models with combustion engines, which were to replace the previous A6 and bear the name A7, will remain under the traditional name well-known to customers. However, contrary to BMW's policy, these will be completely different cars than the e-tron, which was designed as a separate model with a purely electric drive. First tests of various versions, introduced changes, use over a longer period - information about this car will be collected below to present the whole picture of this model.

Introduction
  • The model tested is the Avant (station wagon) version in the Performance specification - with the longest range of all A6 models offered.
  • Mr. Łukasz Bąk presented the car as a successor to the current A6, which is of course not true, even considering the confusion with the names in the Audi brand. The current A6 model will continue to be sold. An actual successor with combustion engines is also being prepared and - as was explained a few days ago - it will continue to bear the name A6.
  • Battery 100 kWh gross, available/net 95 kWh. 800 V architecture. Maximum charging power DC 270 kW. AC 11 kW, but a more powerful 22 kW on-board charger is to be available in the future. Charging sockets are available on the rear left (CCS and Type 2) and on the right (Type 2 only).
Body
  • Dimensions similar to the previous A6, but height +6 cm and this is due to the battery placed in the floor of the car. This is concealed by: high wheel arches, high wheels, strip on the side of the car.
  • The most aerodynamic model in Audi's history. Sportback Cx 0.21, Avant 0.24. Low compared to other electric cars (0.26-0.29), let alone combustion engines. Design subordinated to aerodynamics. Active elements at the front. Enclosed and completely flat floor. The tested model also had cameras instead of rear-view mirrors, which also minimally reduces air resistance.
  • The doors have flush electric handles. It works flawlessly. There is soft close too.
  • A distinctive feature at the rear and new for Audi: illuminated rings (red), connected to a light strip at the rear of the vehicle.
Boot
  • Front "frunk": 27 liters.
  • In the back: 502 liters, 63 less than in the previous A6. Well-arranged. After removing the roller blind and shelf (the one mounted on the rear door), it holds 3 large standard-sized suitcases and 2 cabin-sized ones. The floor can only be lowered a few centimeters, because under the boot there is an electric motor, inverter, on-board charger and other equipment. There is no space for a spare wheel, not even a temporary one.
Interior
  • There is no shortage of knee and head room, people over 1.8 m have enough room, but in the back you can feel the high floor, which results in tucking your legs and lack of foot space under the front seats. Adults will complain and the CEO will fire the fleet manager.
  • In addition to the screens in front of the driver and in the centre, the test car also had a screen in front of the passenger (less than 11 inches), which is invisible to the driver while driving (for safety reasons).
  • The leather on the seats is only partly genuine - mixed with artificial, e.g. on the sides, and all this in a package for PLN 45T...
  • Isofix visible, easily accessible, covered with sliding covers.
  • Materials: alcantara due to the package (Audi's microfiber), but a lot of hard plastic on the doors, e.g. under the windows. Both at the front and at the back. And the "piano" on the center console, typically susceptible to scratches. And this is the version for 500T (with Audi Exclusive packages).
  • The assembly is mostly solid.
  • In the tested version, a glass roof with liquid crystal in polymer. It has separate panels, which can be covered in the intended configurations.
  • Augmented reality head-up. Micro-mirrors on the windshield. The question immediately comes to my mind: how much does it cost to replace a windshield?
Control of functions
  • Friendly Android Auto with Audi overlay (significantly modified).
  • Voice control ("Hey Audi") doesn't work very well.
  • A praise for the permanent menu on the centre screen for the air conditioning settings.
  • Cameras instead of mirrors: monitors well positioned in the interior.
Driving
  • A lot of oversteer and no understeer - due to the rear drive.
  • The steering is surprisingly precise for an Audi.
  • Flawless performance for an electric car with 380 HP and 586 Nm.
  • In this car, air suspension. Depending on the driving mode. It lowers the car by 10 mm, and in sport modes it can lower it by additional 10 mm. It perfectly absorbs bumps. High comfort, despite 21-inch rims. No sounds from work.
  • Several types of recuperation. It predicts the road. It observes cars in front of us. Manual control with paddles is possible. In the city, however, it is most convenient to use mode B - one pedal driving. It stops in place without using the brake. The maximum power of recuperation is a huge 220 kW.
  • Nominal range 720 km. At 2 degrees Celsius in the city in winter approx. 20 kWh/100 km, so the real range is approx. 500 km. 120 km/h: consumption increases to 25 kWh/100 km, so the range drops to approx. 400 km. Car weight 2260 kg. In winter at 140-150 km/h approx. 30 kWh/100 km.
  • It is certainly worth using the heating while charging, which saves energy for driving.
  • From driving on the highway: Very quiet interior. Noise does not increase with speed.
  • Cameras instead of mirrors: Automatic change of the viewing angle to a wider one when something is in the blind spot. Reversing and maneuvering are unfortunately difficult, especially at night - it is difficult to judge the distance. However, after dark on the road you can see much better than in classic ones. They work best at night in the city - street lighting + image illumination.
  • Acceleration measured 5.7 s; factory 5.4 s. In sport mode with launch control 380 HP, because an additional 10 HP is activated.
  • Trip planning in navigation works very well.
  • The car is very comfortable to drive.
  • In Poland basic version over PLN 300T with taxes. Performance Avant from PLN 370T with taxes. +Additional equipment, +Audi Exclusive and tested model costs PLN 500T with taxes.
  • It is possible to drift it. ;)
